We started our year as most other choruses did with intense preparation for convention in Hobart. The hard work paid off with our chorus taking out the Most Improved Chorus award in Hobart along with capturing second place in the Small Chorus Division. We at Murrumbidgee Magic always have a wonderful time at convention, where we get to catch up with all our Sweet Adelines friends from across this vast region.
Murrumbidgee Magic has kept busy with some opportunities to sing in the local community. These events included citizenship ceremonies, sharing our competition package with residents at "The Grange" retirement village and providing a meal and singing at Lillier Lodge, a local "home away from home" for cancer patients who have to travel long distances for cancer treatment.
Murrumbidgee Magic enjoyed great success at the recent Wagga Wagga Eisteddfod, winning the Open Choir and Australian Song sections and placing second in the Sacred Song and A Cappella sections. The Wagga Wagga Eisteddfod is always a highlight for the chorus; so much fun joining other choruses for a good night of singing!
Aside from our successes in competition this year, the highlight has been our recent 30th anniversary celebration. This was a wonderful celebration, a walk down memory lane for so many chorus members, past and present, with many Sweet Adelines travelling to attend. The afternoon celebrated the amazing work and passion of our founding director, Jill Harris, current director Judy Ferguson, who is still so passionate after all these years, and the many other chorus members who have played, and those who continue to play, such an integral role in our chorus. Each and every chorus member, past and present, is so valued and their contributions put the "magic" in Murrumbidgee Magic.
