Redland Rhapsody Chorus went on such an incredible adventure together, becoming the first Queensland chorus to take the Harmony Classic stage in Columbus, Ohio this year. What began as a brainstorming session one night back in 2024, turned into a wonderful 15-minute package which was so much fun to perform..

One of the best parts of this whole journey was the teamwork. Every single person brought something special. Our costume team worked their magic so we sparkled. The props team lugged, glued, repaired, and reinvented. Our creative team shaped the performance, taking our original ideas and helping us to create our own emotions. The visual and music team worked every week to guide us towards our goals. Of course our marketing and fundraising legends helped make the whole thing financially possible. And our fabulous ground crew supported us at every rehearsal.

A huge thank you to Liliana Macarone and Glenda Lloyd for coaching us with so much talent and heart, and for working so beautifully together to help create the magic. And thank you for guiding me along the way.

There were so many special moments: the technical sound check where the directors stood on the risers while North Metro Chorus performed around us; meeting and snapping selfies with "top 10" Directors I've admired for years; cheering on our Aussie competitors; Circular Keys Chorus, Alouette and Skylark all shining on stage. And wow… 9th place for Skylark – what a moment! And who could forget our Aussie supporters "oi oi oi-ing" from the crowd. Singing I Am Australian in the foyer of our hotel, just before hopping on to the bus to join the traffice pattern was another special moment.

Having Lynne Smith coaching and supporting us during our final week was unforgettable. Being presented with my beautiful "magic coat" topped off out last rehearsal perfectly and helped give closure to the story.  But the most special moment of all was standing backstage watching as our beautiful chorus members stepped onto the stage one by one. The long journey to Harmony Classic finally becoming real. I’ll never forget that feeling..

Being the first chorus from Queensland to perform in Harmony Classic wasn’t just about making history; it was about proving what’s possible when people believe in each other and refuse to give up. This journey is something we’ll carry with us forever. It’s proof that when we believe in each other and combine our voices, our energy, and our hearts, we can create something truly unforgettable.
