Several members of the RMT had the incredible opportunity to attend the Sweet Adelines International Convention in Columbus, Ohio. Representing Redland Rhapsody Chorus in the Harmony Classic were Tracey Ezzy (Membership Coordinator), Cathy Sterling (Events Coordinator), Karen Phillips (Marketing Coordinator), and Tori Van der Donk (Finance Coordinator).
Additionally, Vicki Dwyer (Directors’ Coordinator) and Bec Hewitt (Education Coordinator) performed with Circular Keys Chorus, and Vicki of course competed with her quartet, Alouette. Bec also ran an education session, Tabletop Discussion – "Breathing" with Patti Cobb Baker.
It was wonderful to see so many Region 34 supporters in the audience – our enthusiasm may have even outshone the Swedes!
The experience was unforgettable. Columbus proved to be a beautiful city, and the competition was exceptionally well-run. It was also a reminder of the high standard of our own Region 34 competitions, which consistently deliver fantastic venues, performances, and camaraderie. Looking ahead, we are excited to see Perth Harmony and Skylark represent Region 34 at next year’s international competition. Attending International – whether as a competitor or spectator – is challenging but deeply rewarding, and we encourage everyone to consider it.
