The Lindsey Dyer Achievement Award is presented annually to a chorus or quartet from Region 34. This award was established in memory of the late Lindsey Dyer, who was a passionate leader within our region – a champion singer, director, coach, mentor, and friend to all. Lindsey contributed to the region in so many ways, and was an inaugural inductee into our Region 34 Hall of Fame.

This award is also an opportunity to raise awareness about breast cancer, which took Lindsey’s life in 2019. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in Australia, and is also diagnosed in men. The key message we wish to convey as part of Lindsey’s legacy is to be breast aware, because early detection could save your life.

Nominations for the Lindsey Dyer Achievement Award are invited from (or on behalf of) choruses and quartets that, over the last year, have worked to improve their performance and skills while upholding the values of Sweet Adelines International in Region 34. This may be demonstrated by consistent attendance at regional education events, working with Regional Education Faculty and/or coaches, engagement with the community, positive group culture, and, most of all, a love of barbershop with demonstrable initiative and commitment to the values of Sweet Adelines International.

During the Parade of Champions in Hobart this year, Perth Harmony Chorus was presented with the Lindsey Dyer Achievement Award for 2025.

Perth Harmony has, over many years, consistently demonstrated a commitment to excellence, supportiveness, participation, and achievement. One of their foundation principles is education, and they have very actively supported and participated in all regional education events, including conventions, masterclasses, online webinars, and Directors’ School. This was also evident in the active involvement of the chorus in many aspects of the planning and delivery of the Fremantle convention in 2024.

This past year, the chorus also celebrated its 40th anniversary. Key to that celebration was embarking on a program of outreach and engagement with the broader WA barbershop community to plan and execute a harmony extravaganza, “A Reason, A Season, a Lifetime”. This event was hugely successful and has built a foundation upon which further collaboration and events are in the planning with the WA barbershop community. The chorus has continued to refine its strong culture built on collaboration and member engagement. Congratulations, Perth Harmony Chorus, on your efforts and achievements.
