Val has dedicated nearly four decades – 38 years – to Sweet Adelines Australia. Her passion for barbershop harmony, her deep community spirit, and her unwavering commitment have created an enduring legacy.
Val’s journey began in 1985 with the Sydney Town Chorus, where she played a key role in its chartering, making it the first officially chartered chorus in NSW and the third in Australia.
Over the years, Val has been a pivotal member of several NSW choruses, including Central Coast Harmony (now Coastal a Cappella) and Northern Beaches Chorus. In each, she took on significant leadership roles – both musically and administratively. As a dual member of Coastal a Cappella and Northern Beaches for many years, she truly went above and beyond in her contributions across two choruses.
At the regional level, Val has made a lasting impact, serving in a variety of regional roles, including a six-year stint in the RMT as Membership Coordinator. Her warmth, kindness, and inclusivity helped every member feel welcomed and valued, especially through her involvement with Chapter-at-Large and her supportive presence at gatherings.
She continues to serve as Chair of the Nominating Committee, guiding our RMT selection processes with care and integrity.
Val’s wisdom, humour, and loyalty have made her a cornerstone of every chorus and committee she has touched. Her legacy is one of connection, dedication, and grace.
