Hello Region 34,

Well, it's been a busy few months for our members preparing for and then attending our annual convention and competition in Hobart. It's been just on a month since Hobart, and we really haven’t slowed down since with our Annual General Meeting, a full weekend of Regional Management Team meetings, plus more planning of events and activities with the team.

It was wonderful to see so many friends returning to Wrest Point since our last event there in 2019. As a local, it’s always a joy to see visitors seeing our city under beautiful autumn days with blue skies, and lots of sunshine (OK, we had a showery morning on chorus competition day, but other than that it was delightful!)

For the first time, we kicked off the event with an activity on Wednesday evening, with our “Quartet Open Mic” session, which was well attended, and just so much fun. This proved to be a fabulous start to the next four days of activity with standout competitions, performances, education, and socialising.

The amount of time and effort it takes to plan and execute our conventions is staggering. A massive thank you to our Convention Steering Committee, all our RMT members, and all the volunteer choruses and helpers who worked so hard over the past 12 months to make the event successful. I know the team are already turning their minds towards Hobart 2026, where we can expect another exciting convention and competition again at Wrest Point. Within the next month or two, we also hope to be able to share news about a venue and location for the following year, 2027.

Congratulations, too, to all our award and medal winners from convention. A special shout-out to our newest champion quartet and chorus, Alouette and Perth Harmony Chorus. We were delighted and excited by your stunning performances.

Before we know it, the international convention and competition will be upon us. Region 34 will be very well represented again this year with two choruses and two quartets. All the region’s members send our best wishes to Redland Rhapsody Chorus, Circular Keys Chorus, and Skylark and Alouette quartets. May you have a safe journey to, and a wonderful time in Columbus, in October. We know you will make us proud!
