    Region 34 Convention and Competition 2027

    Our 2027 Region 34 Convention and Competition will run from 19–23 May at The NEX (Newcastle Exhibition Centre), 309 King Street Newcastle West NSW 2302. This is a modern, versatile venue located right in the heart of the city, surrounded by everything you’ll need for a fun, comfortable, and memorable convention experience.

    We’ve visited and carefully evaluated the venue, and we’re confident that Newcastle and the NEX will provide a fantastic setting for convention 2027 - with great facilities, convenient transport, and a welcoming atmosphere for all our members.

    ABOUT THE VENUE

    The NEX is conveniently located within walking distance of shopping centres, cafes, and restaurants, and there’s an excellent range of accommodation options nearby. Many of the local hotels are apartment-style, offering kitchenettes, dining areas, microwaves, and fridges - perfect for those who prefer a more economical and self-contained stay.     ACCOMMODATION

    While it’s still too early to make bookings, we have negotiated special discount codes that will be available closer to the time. We’ll share those details - along with recommended hotels - well in advance so you can plan your stay easily.

    GETTING THERE

    We’re exploring transportation options from the airport, including charter bus recommendations for groups travelling together. And some exciting travel news - we’ve heard that direct flights from Perth to Newcastle may be available from 2027! Stay tuned for confirmation as we get closer to convention time.

    DINING AND SOCIAL OPTIONS

    The NEX is located above the Wests Club, which offers a variety of bistros, bars, and great-value meals and drinks. To enjoy all that Wests has to offer, attendees will need to join the club - membership is just $10 and includes access to member discounts (similar to Wrest Point).
