Hello, My name is Catherine Bechaz and I am a member of Melbourne Chorus.   

A bit about me – Vern and I have been together now for 14 years. He has 3 boys and I have a son and daughter. I am the Practice Manager of a cardiology practice and enjoy my work very much and all that it encompasses.

I joined Sweet Adelines in 1997 with Southern Sounds Chorus and have been fortunate to have had the trust of two wonderful directors. I served as choreographer, and assistant director of this chorus, a member of the management team, performance team and editor of our newsletter.  In the past I have helped in organising workshops, retreats and social functions. 

Since I joined this organisation, I feel that so much has been given to me by directors, coaches, other members in our chorus as well as other choruses and I would like to have the opportunity of giving some of that back. One of my greatest kicks is to see a new Sweet Adeline join the chorus, timid and unsure and just watch that transformation!!! I have been involved in many organisations in one capacity or another and nothing beats this feeling.   The mission statement of  Sweet Adelines is a true feature of this living and vibrant art form.

I am enjoying working with Jennifer and look forward to the opportunity at the next convention of meeting all the new members I have written to.  Please come and tell me about yourself and your experiences as a “New Kid on the Block”.
